All participants will receive a medal at the finish line. Preliminary certificates will also be available in the finish area.


Water Stops & Refreshments

Six Aid Stations are located along the course at the 9 km, 15 km, 20 km, 25 km, 30 km, and 35.8 km marks. Each Aid Station offers water, sweet tea, and PowerBar Sports Drinks (lemon flavor). Bananas and apples will also be provided.

The average temperature is 10°C with 71% humidity and partly cloudy.

In 2009, 40,923 participants registered for the marathon and there were 35,035 finishers, making Berlin the third largest marathon in the world after New York and London in terms of number of finishers. With expected one million spectators along the scenic loop course the race is covered live by n-tv (nationally), Eurosport (Germany and Europe resp. Asia) and Fuji TV (Japan).


The principal Berlin Marathon occurred in October 1974 with 286 sprinters completing it. In the 2018 BMW Berlin Marathon, somewhere in the range of 42,000 sprinters were cheered by more than 1 million observers.
