Berlin Marathon Hydration: Applications for the Berlin Marathon are much more than the city can accommodate. A lottery is used to select marathon runners – after registering applicants, the program will select the lucky ones who will take part in the race.
Berlin Marathon Hydration 2019
Guaranteed right to start have fast runners – fast runners. These are athletes who fulfill mileage standards. Standards vary slightly from year to year.
Athletes using the services of an official tour operator and participants in charity programs have a guaranteed right to run. Both are expensive.
I became the proud owner of a lottery slot.
Usually, performance in marathons of this level is planned for a good result with updating personal time in the discipline.
But, as many people now know, from the beginning of the year to the end of August I did not prepare for the Berlin marathon, did not go to the coach, did not develop my speed skills, and prepared a project, the one you heard about all of and of course watched him.
“Connecting Capitals” took us a lot of time, effort and made a sufficient number of changes to personal space.
And in general, there were moments that I wanted to give a slot … Of course, this is not done, it’s not by the rules …
But until the last moment I was not sure whether I would go to Berlin or not.
Doubts were that there was only one week between the finish of the project “Connecting Capitals” and the start of the marathon in Berlin! Odaaaaa … !!!
But it so happened that the man who wanted to run instead of me in Berlin on this date — organized his race in Moscow, and after the project “Connecting the Capitals” I was completely healthy and ready for new exploits.
The decision to flee Berlin was not long in coming.
Map of attractions.
Sports bag and favorite ASICS outfit.
Berlin met with hot and sunny weather. Even at the Moscow airport, at the reception, there were many marathon runners … Berlin was crowded with runners.
No wonder – a world event.
Different languages, skin colors and nationalities. They all came to conquer the Berlin Marathon.
Immersed in the atmosphere of the upcoming sports festival, we went to the EXPO of the Berlin Marathon.
The exposition was simply gigantic – inside the old Tempelhof airport, it occupied several tall hangars, and EVERYTHING was there. Many different manufacturers of sportswear, shoes, food and accessories, representatives of various marathons, stands, goods …
The issue of numbers was organized simply exemplary, one word – “German order”. What surprised – the numbers themselves were printed right on the spot! That is, no one had previously prepared numbers, glued chips to them, and there were no divisions. A bunch of racks, go to anyone (there was only a division into men and women). You show your “Ausweis”, you show the registration confirmation, your name number is immediately printed on the printer, a chip is issued, the chip itself (the number) in the program is attached to you (your number), and that’s it. Free, next.
The track itself was prepared just superbly. There were many food items, each had water, isotonics, tea, all in separate cups. Water was supplied to food points through special pipes with taps, filling basins, and volunteers scooped up glasses of water with great speed and put them on tables.
Plus, bananas and apples were handed out; there was a gel station for 28 km.
Locals exhibited their food points along the highway and refueled marathon runners with Coca-Cola, water, and sometimes even beer.
In general, there were no problems with food and water at a distance.
How did you run? In view of the incomplete, or, it is better to call it that, no recovery after the project, I decided to exchange the result at the marathon for an excursion in a new city for me. 42 km at a comfortable pace, without informing the clock and appendices about the results, was for me the only reasonable solution in this situation.
The maraofn flew by unnoticed. Maybe they correctly say that the new path is interesting in that you do not notice the time spent on its passage.
The final result is 04:06:54 This is the slowest time for which I ran a marathon in my career.
But on the other hand, this is the coolest marathon, in all respects, from which I received great pleasure that did not receive from previous events.
But also, I witnessed a world event – Eliud Kipchoge set a new world record in the marathon!
Kipchoge covered the distance in – 2: 01.40, which is 0: 01.17 seconds faster than Dennis Kimetto’s previous world achievement (2: 02.57).
Berlin is one of the best marathons on the planet, and it is definitely worth running at least once.
